designed by Philippe Starck and Luc Arsène-Henry
March 06, 2014

The wine is a magic
Its elaboration a science
Our relationship is sentimental
Its structure is an abstraction
Its effect a vertigo
Its knowledge a culture
Its robe is virtual
You can only use the language of the immaterial, of the mind to tell wine.
Its house had to be evocative, a minimum, an intuition, a reflection
The wonder of Les Carmes Haut-Brion deserved this consistency, I hope we did not prove unworthy. Ph.S

After Paris, Marseille, Istanbul and Lyon, Mama Shelter casts anchor in Bordeaux
After Paris, Marseille, Istanbul and Lyon, Mama Shelter casts anchor in Bordeaux
« Mama Shelter stands for freedom, gathering, intelligence, construction, sensuality… accessible to all, trans-social, trans-generational, trans-ethical, trans-cultural. MAMA is a diagonal drawn on the chessboard of Bordeaux » Ph. Starck
After Paris, Marseille, Istanbul, Mama Shelter Lyon settles down in Lyon.
« Mama is an intellectual, creative, emotional tribe dispersed throughout the entire world : Istanbul, LA, Paris….From now on, the tribe from Lyon has its own Mama, its own Shelter. A Mama in Lyon, center of France, is a strong symbol. Lyon, is a center where all cultures, all ethnies, all creations blended together, sedimented, and gave birth to ideas that forged France, and the world. Mama brings along its cultural diversity, its wind of freedom, the smile of humour and the kiss of love ». Philippe Starck
Miss Ko is a restaurant designed as a unique experience and a fantasy.
A work whose overall director is Philippe Starck and the mysterious heroin is Miss Ko.
The restaurant reproduces a "food street" and crazy night, with a huge bar of 26 meter and delusional fresco designed by David Rocheline.
"Sometimes dreams are hectic, crazy, strange.
You wake up different, dazzled by what you just lived, relieved to wake up, sad to not be sure to be able to return.
Miss Ko is that, only that, mostly that.
A fantasy created from scratch, an exquisite corpse and asian crazy collage where you hit a distant court of miracles in a street after Blade Runner, where there is a unlimited creative madness, where artists have no barrier, where technology shows an exciting future, where industry becomes art" Ph.Starck
After Paris and Marseille, Mama Shelter Istanbul is the beginning of an international development.
The idea of Mama Shelter Istanbul is the essence of a love story. The one of the founders of Mama Shelter Jérémie Trigano who moved there for more than ten years ago, fascinated by this city.
"It was normal, logical, natural that Mama Shelter, meeting points of all generations, of all creations, of all energies, settles down one day in Istanbul, a junction between all cultures, all civilizations, all futures".
Many Mama Shelter are under construction and will opens their doors until 2014 : at Bordeaux, Lyon and Los Angeles.
"Le Nuage," a new living place designed by Philippe Starck.
Dec. 15, 2012
"Le Nuage", which will be launched in 2014 in Montpellier (France), is a fun and accessible place, open to everyone, which relies on the latest technologies for sport, relax, diner, shop or friendly moments.
It is designed as a vertical village, informal, which enhances social life, body and mind development.
The original building is encircled by huge air bags which gives an impression of lightness.
"When we look at a cloud, we look at almost nothing.
And yet, this nothing is everything, water, minerals, bacteria, pollen ...
All that is vital is here, translucent, light, seems lighter than air.
The Cloud, ours, that of Montpelier, is the same water.
At a minimum, almost nothing, a bubble of humans, no matter, only energy, just desire and joint action to preserve life. "
opening of the SLS Hotel South Beach Miami designed by Starck
Nov. 10, 2012
After Los Angeles, this is the second hotel of the SLS chain :
“ The SLS Miami has no style ; we have worked a lot for that. It is a sophisticated cocktail of poetry, surrealism, fertile surprises, tenderness, unexpected sculptures through the Japanese restaurant, the elegant Milanese Sam bar, the very strange Chinese Spanish mixed of Jose Andres and the grand-mother dining room of my grand-mother. Everywhere you look, you have a surprise, and you can start your own dream, your own life. Everywhere you go, you can feel the humanity of Sam and the craziness of Starck”
My midget, my rabbit, my doe, my poppet, my hen, my quail, ma cocotte.
The canteen designed by Philippe Starck opens its doors in Saint Ouen flea market.
Led by the restaurateurs Philippe & Fabienne Amzalak with Yannick Papin as chef, ma cocotte is a restaurant with 250 seats, divided between an industrial loft and two terraces located on Serpette and Paul Bert markets.
Admirative of flea market society, of its antiquaries, Philippe Starck has always wanted to move there and be like them.
With this restaurant, he realized his childhood dream.
"Ma cocotte is not a restaurant, it's a bowl.
A bowl of hot soup, a bowl of steaming coffee, a bowl of fragrant tea, a bowl of wine…
Ma cocotte, in a beautiful winter morning, is fire, arms welcoming to warm your heart and body.
That's all, but it's a lot.
Welcome home. "
Parrot has chosen Paris to open its first shop, at 30 Rue du Quatre-Septembre, two steps away from the Opera Garnier.
60m ² dedicated to the technological world of the French brand.
The window is dressed by suspended Parrot Zik headphones and inside, a soundproof listening room offers unparalleled acoustic comfort to enjoy the sound output from the Parrot Zikmu wireless speakers.
"The new Parrot store does not exist. Fortunately. It is just the minimum support, dematerialized, the creative genius of Parrot, which exists ; and the thousands of opportunities, territories and technology applications that can provide inspiration. Little materiality, just the elegance of engineering to the highest level of intelligence, creating intelligence. "Philippe Starck
Port Adriano, the new harbor designed by Philippe Starck
Located on the south coast of the island of Mallorca, Port Adriano has become
one of the Mediterranean’s main luxury leisure harbor, with 82 new berths for
yachts of up to 60/80 meters long.
The union of the creative and visionary talent of Philippe Starck and the experience of the Port Adriano team has achieved installations that have revolutionised the concept of ports.
Starck blurs the frontier between harbour and boat, creating direct contact with the sea and extending the experience of yachts interior design to the quays: from the bollards to the woods chosen for the surfaces or the lamps of the piers, design is an essential part of Port Adriano.
After Paris, the Mama Shelter Marseille is the second to open in France.
127 rooms between 15 to 45 m2, spread over six floors with the option of five categories and colours and with prices starting at €69.
The Mama Shelter Marseille is primarily a place of freedom, fizzing, bubbling and exchange.
This original concept, that Starck describes as: " the jeans of the hotel business, following the new social values such as discipline, honesty, intelligence and humor ”, comes from the synergy and family story of SergeTrigano, and his sons Jeremy and Benjamin, Cyril Aouizerate, urbanist and philosopher, Philippe Starck and more recently also Michel Reybier.
«There are no projects without something very strong behind them; a human reason, a social reason, or a love reason. A vision. Otherwise no legitimacy exists. We cannot separate Mama Shelter from its genesis, simple application of a vision and a story. Human history, a meeting, affinities, a deep friendship, people who love each other. This is the starting point of everything." Ph.S
Many Mama Shelter are underway including the Mama Shelter Bordeaux, Lyon and also LA and Istanbul.

That’s all, but it’s already quite something.

Royal Monceau: Opening of the SPA “My Blend” by Clarins
June 09, 2011
Entirely designed by Philippe Starck, the Royal Monceau’s spa “My Blend” by Clarins opened its doors the 09th of June 2011. The spa will undoubtedly be the place of unique well being and luxury. Contemporary but also timeless, the SPA will take place on an area of over 1500 m2:
“A spa is above all a feminine place and for it I wanted to investigate the architectural possibilities of the feminine unconscious. The woman is in a system of fluid where the purely male signs of strength, like aggressiveness do not exist. I wanted an unlimited white universe, without horizontality nor verticality” Ph. S.
Philippe Starck and Armand Hadida opened Le Royal Monceau's concept store, Le Royal Eclaireur, the 12th of May, 2011:
« The Royal Eclaireur - Raffles Paris has nothing to do with architecture or decoration, it is an exploration. It’s an exploration of what the French spirit is, of what it should be, and what it could be. Our qualities, our flaws, this poetry, this romanticism, this reflection, this critical spirit taken to an even higher level, which either kills or confirms. It’s the creation of an internal mental space within the physical surroundings and even replacing decoration ; the mental in place of the esthetic, literature in place of style. The creation of a total space, of a life, a memory, of a passage as if its molecules had been set in motion by music, as if the air had become palpable with the scent of parfume, as if a room could be understood by evoking the exquisite soul of one who had lived there, and had left behind memories, gifts, and memoires."». Philippe Starck and Riko present D.E.A.R.S at MiPim
March 08, 2011
Philippe Starck and Riko exhibit the premier presentation of the Democratic Ecological Architecture with Riko by Starck (D.E.A.R.S.) at the MIPIM 2011, from the 8th to the 11th of March, in Cannes.
The timeless design of D.E.A.R.S is a revolutionary concept due to its simplicity, innovativeness and accomplishes the political work of Philippe Starck of “democratic ecology”.
"I’ve always been in the ‘proving’ mode of thinking: in the industrialization of furniture but also in habitat. Using the system of car manufacturing to make the houses. Democratic Eco Architecture: I'm going to find in the world, the closest industrial quality I want and develop a wide range of prefabricated homes that are going to be environmentally friendly.” Ph. New Project yoo inspired by S+ARCK® in Pune, India
yoo co-founder Philippe Starck is also the Creative Director of the ‘yoo inspired by S+ARCK®’ team behind the artful conception of four design palettes, Culture, Classic, Minimal and Nature.
Philippe Starck, has turned a jungle terrain in Pune, India, into another high residential living space with yoo. yoo Pune is the stunning new residential development in India. Set within an expanse of 17 acres including a 5 acre historic rainforest – yoo Pune gives you access to a plethora of exclusive services on its premises. yoo Pune will be the new sanctuary in the heart of a multi-faceted city.
“I have never been interested by architecture, nor design. I am only interested by “US”. When working on a project, a place or an object, I always focus on the profit my creation may have on the persons who will use them. For yoo Pune, I was thinking of bringing something more to my cultural tribe in India by creating a place where they can blossom and be happy”. Ph. S
« I never make architecture for architecture; I am not interested in stone, aluminum, glass and concrete.
I am interested in life, which is why a hotel for me is like a movie.
I imagine why people would come, why people would come back. What they will live, what they will feel. This movie is about the cross of many roads. The Royal Monceau is the result of the richness of this sophisticated cocktail and produces peace and energy for everyone who shall cross these roads.
I think we have invented in the Royal Monceau a new concept called Mental Space. It is no more about interior design style and trends. It is more making air in vibration like music, giving to the air spirit like a perfume. The guest rooms are not empty, they are full of a feeling, a spirit, a presence, as if someone invisible is welcoming you.” Ph. S
yoo co-founder Philippe Starck is also the Creative Director of the ‘yoo inspired by S+ARCK®’ team behind the artful conception of four design palettes, Culture, Classic, Minimal and Nature. From the dark woods and timeless appeal of the Classic palette to the smooth, clean lines of the Minimal palette – there’s something for everyone. Philippe Starck said: “I am delighted with this project as our aim was to create a new interior design style based on the human values that perfectly match the spirit of the wonderful Turkish people –we’ve achieved just that!”
The Opening of Alhondiga in Bilbao, Cultural, sports and living Center
May 18, 2010
Philippe Starck went to Bilbao, Spain, to inaugurate his new architectural project. AlhóndigaBilbao is a leisure, cultural, and wellbeing center directed towards the personal growth. Philippe Starck renovated these 43.000 square meters of surface dedicated to the activities which support the love of knowledge and to the awakening of the cultural sensitivity. The culture, knowledge and pleasure are joined together in an innovative and multidisciplinary space - a point of life to divide, learn and especially, to appreciate with your family and your friends.
“The true subject of Alhondiga, Bilbao, is not to make a sculpture but to glorify life. Each second is different, life is very diverse and rich. Alhondiga is the crystallization of life. In lower part of these three buildings, full and heavy, all the area is free, like a course of miracles. It is the place of the village, the center of life. Today, I do not know any place in the world where there is all at the same time. It is not the easy way which interests me, it is, once more, the richness of life. Alhondiga is the elegance of the minimum, the elegance of the accuracy of a certain form of voluntary poverty. And yet everywhere one looks at, there are things which occur. It is a machine to create energy. » Ph. S
Paradis du Fruit thinks fresh WITH philippe starck
Philippe Starck takes the artistic direction of the Paradis du Fruit restaurant and revisits it’s flagship’s concept on the avenue Geaorges V.. He composes, with noble materials, a completely unique and timeless place.
“Le Paradis du Fruit,
is all about fruit and people,
Fruits that are big, small, yellow, orange, red…
We cannot say enough about fruit, there are too many kinds, so delicious and healthy.
Without the people of Paradise, fruit would be just fruit.
In Paradise, with fruit, these people are no longer people. They become angels, geniuses, artists.
These unique beings, search, gather, pulp, press, mix, decant, infuse,
With talent, insight and dedication.
Without them, the fruit would be less.
These angels are our messengers of the fruits.
Thank you. So much.” Ph. S
With Philippe Starck, the Paradis du Fruit reinvents its cloud. The new doors of the Paradis open on the avenue George V in Paris, with a menu and new recipes at the image of the place: simply astounding.
STARCK rethinks the mythical EastWest Studios, Los Angeles, USA, 2008
EastWest Studio, the mythical soundware developer, has undergone a renovation by Philippe STARCK.
"When I first saw EastWest studios it was my absolute dream to work on this project because I thought about this famous recording studio's history and its purpose which is to make quality music," Philippe Starck explains. "I listen to music while I'm planning out my designs and I feel that my inspiration comes from the quality of the artist's music, so sound is very important to me in this space. I'm astonished when I visit various studios, whether they are recording or for radio, at how they look. You ask people to be at their best and to dream about things in a rat hole. They're spending 12-plus hours in these small spaces that smell and have practically no light - it's ridiculous. I don't need a lot but I can't work like that. I wanted to make this place very human with big areas and small areas where people can find a place that makes them feel comfortable. There is a lounge where people can meet, a kitchen and restrooms that are all comfortable, hopefully it's my small contribution to some great music in the future."
Since its foundation back in 1961, the studio has hosted such musical royalty as Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, and many more.
